CSA share week #1 Saturday May 28th and Tuesday May 31st

Even with the wet and cold we are excited to be ready to harvest a week ahead of schedule. If you choose to begin your CSA pickup a week early you can expect some real spring treats in your share.

In your first share you will recieve

2 heads of lettuce- black seeded simpson, berenice oakleaf

1 bunch of baby leeks- use any way would onions, you can eat the green part as well as the white they are best chopped and sauteed in olive oil until tender.

1 bunch of radishes- french breakfast or cherry belle - great by themselves or chopped and served with a salad.

1/2 # stir fry mix- baby asian greens- tender enough to eat raw but we recommend a fast fry in a pan or wok with olive oil and soy sauce, serve with rice.

oregano- 1 bunch - use in italian and mexican dishes, oregano is full of antioxidants.

mustard greens-1bunch- raw mustard greens are on the spicy side, try them in place of lettuce on a sandwich with a little kick. Cooking reduces the spiciness, they cook very quickly, we recommend braising them in a little water and serving with any kind of white bean.

rhubarb- you can use rhubarb raw in a delicious smoothy combine in a blender 1 cup chopped rhubarb, 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, 1/2 cup yogurt and a 1/2 cup milk. Sweeten if desired with sugar or honey. Strawberry rhubarb pie or cobbler is also an old spring favorite.

pea tendrils- mix raw into a salad or lightly sautee in olive oil for a sweet pea flavor this makes a great side dish.

lupines (flowers)we have received many requests to include flowers in the share so we will on occasion, as with anything you do not like or do not want there will be exchange options.
